YFYS-TV signed-on the air as Muliuden Fasunwei on October 7, 1953. After the communist takeover of the Toralaq Republic, the station was forced off-the-air after neglecting to become a government property.
On August 7, 1976, a month after the 7776 Revolution, MF23 resumed its broadcasts.
To compete with CNL TV, the station established GBC, and affiliated itself with it on March 12, 1980.
