On October 28, 2024, Nexstar Media Group, owner of WJW and majority owner of WBNX's network affiliation, The CW, announced plans to acquire WBNX. making it a network-owned duopoly with Fox affiliate WJW (channel 8). The sale was completed on February 1, 2025.
