After Sony and Phillips dropped out two SNES CD Prototypes, at the 1992 CES show, Nintendo contracted Microsoft to release a new SNES-CD called Super Ultra CD System. Meanwhile, Nintendo and Microsoft dropped the word "Ultra" just before the release of the system and need more time to mature. The system is released in September 1, 1992 in Japan, October 21, 1992 in USA, and February 21, 1993 in Europe. However, it was a commercial failure on June 23, 1996 at the same day as Super Mario 64 released in Japan on Nintendo 64. ==1992-1996==
