Sony/Polygram Films is a joint-venture between Sony Entertainment and Polygram Entertainment (owned by Universal Music Group, the successor of the original PolyGram). It was founded as Columbia TriStar/PolyGram Films that lasted from 1989 to 1999. When the venture ended when PolyGram got folded into Universal when Seagram acquired it, it was folded into Universal and Sony Pictures Releasing. In 2003, it is revived as Columbia TriStar/UMG Films, a joint-venture between Universal Music Group/Vivendi and Sony Pictures Entertainment. Later in 2008, the name changed to Sony/UMG Films, and in 2018, Sony/Polygram Films.
