Nickeloeon launched in Puerto Chango on July 1, 1995, making Puerto Chango the first country to have a localized version of Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon in Puerto Chango is available in 4 feeds: Spanish feed (launched in 1995), German feed (launched in 1996), Norwegian feed (launched in 1998), and English feed (launched in 2008). It is owned by Hi-Tech Radiodifusión y Asociados and Viacom International Media Networks. As with MTV Puerto Chango and the Puerto Changuese feed of CNN International, Jörg Y Sus Hijos Compañía, along with Kidtime Publishing, was involved in launching Nickelodeon in Puerto Chango.

Nickelodeon was originally a block on PCTO (then called "Tele Once: Universidad Catolica de Puerto Chango Television") from 1988-1991.

During this period, there would often be commercials about competitions where viewers had to answer a question (ex.: "What's the name of the school, where Ginger Footley goes to?) and send the answer in a address, under the name NICKTOONS, in order to win famous toys.
