The channel (as part of ParaKids) on 2nd June, 1991, originally airing for 12 hours showing both cartoons andion series. In 1991, Off air the channel would air a block of classic shows called Nick at Nite. Live presentation followed in 1994, branded as Nick it up!. From October 1995 it aired call-in programs hosted by people like Lisa Weialsie and Mike Nicoca who got called by kids to request shows in the night hours under the "Children's Requests" branding. When Astra launched in 1998, Nickelodeon was in the original channel line-up on the 23XI cable transponder, and the channel's was aired for 24 hours on both satellite and cable, causing Nick at Nite to be spun-off into its own channel (which was really pointless, since the name remained as "Nick at Nite") on digital cable and satellite systems. However, analogue antenna services continued to shut down Nickelodeon at 7:00pm each day until the channel finally became a 24 hour service on antenna services in 2005, causing Nick at Nite to become a 24 hour network on antenna services as well. Later, additional channels were added such as Nick Jr. and Nicktoons.
