Locomotion was launched in 1996 by Hearst Corporation and Cisneros Television Group (later Claxson Interactive Group).

Their slogan at the time was Animestation.
2005-2006[]
In 2005, Hearst Corporation sold their properties to Claxson.
Locomotion later joined Imagen Satelital, which was part of Claxson at the time

In 2007, Claxson sold most of their channels to Turner Broadcasting System Latin America (now Warner Bros. Discovery Latin America), including Locomotion.
At the same year, Locomotion started to introduce mainstream music to their programming.
Nama[]
2009-2012[]
In 2009, Locomotion was renamed to Nama (Nama (生) means "fresh" in Japanese), and started to focus on mainstream music. Their animation programing was moved to their Adult Swim block.

2012-2017[]
Due to backlash, Nama was renamed back to Locomotion, however, the channel started to introduce live-action programming, which received even more backlash, and was around until 2014, when the channel started to focus back into animation, as well as original programming, produced by the newly-founded Locomotion Productions.
In 2014, the Brazilian feed of Locomotion was defunct and the channel was relaunched as a free-to-air network.
2017-2021[]
In 2017, Locomotion retired their Loco logo after 21 years. At the same year, they started to broadcast some Cartoon Network shows.
2021-2023[]
In 2021, Locomotion adopted their US counterpart's rebranding. Locomotion was defunct in January 15, 2023, due to the streaming era.
Locomotion Brasil is currently the only Locomotion channel remaining in Latin America.
