The station first signed on the air on September 30, 1962 as KLSH; at its launch, the station served as one of the founding owned-and-operated stations of the Spanish International Network (the forerunner to Univision, which the network was renamed to in 1986).

In 1993 enjoying success as the most watched station in Los Santos, KLSH changed its callsign to its current KUNO (Univision Los Santos), with the old callsign now being used by Seven affiliates in Fresno, California.
