In 1991, TVX Broadcast Group was folded into Paramount Stations Group.

KHQK-TV gained the UWN affiliate from KAYS-TV (channel 3), which then turned KAYS-TV into a Telemundo affiliated station on January 1, 1996 (now affiliated with Univision since November 21, 2016). KHQK-TV is the only UWN affiliated station to be owned by Paramount Stations Group. In 2001, the UWN Television Stations (now UWN Stations) sold KHQK-TV after Paramount Stations Group was folded into Viacom Television Stations Group, which is now as CBS News and Stations, while the remains of Paramount-owned stations were sold to different broadcasting companies.

In 2011, KHQK-TV rebranded simply as UWN Hawaii, dropping the number 36 due to the fact of this station operated on a high channel number frequency.
