1996-2000s, 2016-2019
In 1996, James P "Jim" Steyer noticed a serious need for high-quality educational TV programs for kids, so he started JP Kids, a for-profit company that produced Yvon of the Yukon and The Famous Jett Jackson. Steyer served as the company’s Chairman and CEO. Under Steyer’s guidance, the company used various platforms to broadcast more educational and entertaining content. JP Kids also provided an online outlet for teens to share opinions, explore alternative points of views and discuss political and environmental topics. It was closed between the early and mid-2000s.
However, in June 2016, Laserium Holdings announced to have revived JP Kids (with Jim Steyer as a CEO of JP Kids again) as a worldwide educational television production division of Suius M&E Studios. Like it's predecessor of the same name, it also has a forum for teens and children alike, for discussions and awareness of many issues, personal and common.
It had offices in Toronto (Canada), Warsaw (Poland), Paris (France), Beijing (China), Tokyo (Japan), Sydney (Australia), Johannesburg (South Africa), Sao Paulo (Brazil) and Mexico City (Mexico).
On January 30, 2019, JP Kids was merged into Qualis Family Entertainment.
