The TSW version of the 1989 generic ITV logo and idents went unused as the region rejected them. After Television South West (TSW) signed off on December 31, 1992, Westcountry TV launched on January 1, 1993 in its place.
Westcountry TV took over from TSW on January 1, 1993.
In September 1999, Westcountry was renamed Carlton after its parent company.
The Westcountry name did however remain for certain purposes, such as regional news. After ITV plc was formed in 2004, the Carlton name is no longer used at all.
In 2009, ITV Westcountry rebranded to ITV West Country.
