On 1 September 1997, GTV was launched as a commercial TV channel operated under a joint-venture between The Centraliese Times and Reactive TV. During its first years on air, it showed news, sports and international programmes. GTV was also initially a part of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union.

The logo was slightly updated to match Quad's in 2003, following Reactive TV's acquisition of the channel.
2009-2010[]
On 4 September 2009, Star TV via CTV Corporation bought Reactive TV's share of this channel following Reactive TV's liquidation. Following the change, the channel started to air archived programmes from CTV's library, fine-arts and new episodes of CTV Kids programmes a day after CTV's, even following CTV's original intention from the 1980's. This even caused CTV to lose its international programmes (until 2020).
The logo had a star from Star TV logo.
2010-2016[]

During this era, the channel reached its downfall.
On 5 January 2020, due to low ratings and CTV's rebrand, GTV Centralia closed down along with CTV Movies Disney. During its final week on air, it aired an event called "Goodbye Television" where final episodes of shows aired on the channel were played. The last children's programme to air was a rerun of the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic episode "The Ending of the End" which began at 6:30am and the last programme was a 1-hour special edition of GTV News which started at 11pm, ending with all of the hosts waving goodbye.
After GTV News was aired, GTV Centralia's final ident played in black and white. But after the GTV logo appears, the text below logo said: "Thank you for 23 years with us". A farewell montage played with the footage of almost every program/event aired, from the first program/event to the last program/event, accompanied by "Thank You for the Years". This was followed by a countdown with "Time to Say Goodbye" playing towards it, showing clips from films, followed by every bumper aired. Afterwards, the channel's final ident was faded to the text "Thank you for 23 years! Farewell and we'll see you on CTV!", followed by the national anthem and then the channel was changed to the testcard of CTV 4K which was launched at 6am the next day.
