Central Eyewitness News, formerly The Centralist from 1985-2019, is a television news program produced by Central News and Current Affairs. The show premiered on June 24, 1985.
The show also conceptualized Happy talk, in which anchors/reporters talk about meaningless commentary, ever since the show's launch in 1985.
Following the death of one of the original anchors, Jean-Francis Gagnon, they adopted local American-style news opens, with a voiceover from American Roger Thompson.
