In 1993, there was rumors that Battletoads 64 was intended for Super FX for SNES as Battletoads FX. It wasn't confirmed by Tradewest yet. The success of Killer Instinct caught the great battle between Williams and Nintendo. Nintendo held the rights to Rare games. Williams Entertainment still licensed the rights to the Battletoads, and prevented Nintendo from making a Rare game. However in 1995, Nintendo and Williams got an arrangement to produce Cruis'n USA and a new Battletoads game for Nintendo 64. It was intended to release in October 1996, but it got a few delays until it settled for a March 20, 1997 release date. However, it uses the same graphics that Blast Corps and Killer Instinct Gold did it. At E3 1996, the gameplay, logo, and cover art was unveiled.
