Victor Channel (original)

1998-2002

In 1998, AMC Japan was launched in Japan as Victor Channel, a entertainment/music-oriented channel owned and operated by Victor Entertainment Networks, Inc., a subsidiary of Victor Entertainment (owned by JVC).

At first, the channel was an DirecTV exclusive, but later launched in other pay TV services.

MGM Channel

2002-2003

Victor Channel was replaced by MGM Channel in 2002, after MGM Networks acquired 50% of Victor Entertainment Networks.

Victor Channel was later relaunched in 2004.

After AMC Networks' purchase of Chello Media, all MGM channels around the world became AMC channels.
